Balance
©2004 Gwen Greer

It's too much but it's not enough
Things just won't stay the same
Can't they be right and oh so wrong

It's too fast but it's way too slow
And we're always standing still
Win or lose but never break even
Do you want this still?

Cause I'm tired of this battle for balance
It's time: lay down or fight
There's a heavy sense of last chance

You're so familiar you are the only home I know
Over in my mind, I hear your laughter or its faint echo
It's a little rusty but it's begging for a shine
Can we dust this thing off let it breathe in the light?

Cause I'm tired of this battle for balance
It's time: lay down or fight
There's a heavy sense of last chance

There are times when I believe
And then there are the times like these
When love is walking down the street outside
And you're standing in the door
And you're just standing in the door

Peace of mind and now you're hopelessly out of touch
How can you be so close and still so far from reach?
This ring of silence becomes increasingly deafening
Like a never-waking dream
Like a never-flowing stream
Like a never-breathing scream

And I'm so..

Tired of this battle for balance
I think it's time you lay down or fight
There's a heavy sense of last chance
