Shadows
©2002 Gwen Greer
You make the waves and I watch the colors
You splash the water and I bail the boat
You put your arm out and we go in circles
We're chasing shadows on these walls
You like to lie around the stars in the sky
I sweep the dust up off the floor
You rest your head on clouds and dream of the sun
Erasing shadows on these walls
But I hear the rain outside begin to fall
And I see familiar darkness start to crawl
What a shame the weather's been so bad lately
What a shame
The sun used to shine like a diamond in the sky
And bright, bright, bright was all there was to see
But now I can't seem to be what you think you see in me
Or maybe what was there before
Sometimes I see a reflection deep in your eyes
Erasing shadows on these walls
But I hear the rain outside begin to fall
And I see familiar darkness start to crawl
What a shame the weather's been so bad lately
What a shame, what a shame
